E67 Xbox 360 error code | Tinker Mods
Breaking down the code
This Xbox 360 error code deals specifically with the Hard drive. This can be both an internal or external hard drive depending on which version of the console you have. To be even more specific, the E67 error means communications with the HDD have timed out.
An easy way to figure it out
While several problems might cause this error, this one is very easy to figure out which. Thanks to the Xbox 360 HDD's all having the ability to be removed, you can remove the hard drive. If removing that HDD and restarting your console fixes your issue, then you have your answer. The HDD is bad and you need to replace it. Well... sort of.
Bad connection
While removing the HDD can show you what is causing your E67 error code, it still isn't the whole picture. All versions of the Xbox 360 console have connectors and wires that connect the HDD to the motherboard. It is also possible the cables and or ports could cause the problem too. If you replace the hard drive and still throw the E67 code, it could be the ports or connectors. This also sometimes requires pro level soldering skills as some ports are soldered directly to the motherboard. Try replacing the internal cables and connectors first.
Southbridge gone bad
The worst case here is having a bad southbridge chip. If none of the above issues fix your problem, it's almost definitely the southbridge. This requires replacing or fixing this chip. Doing so is not a novice level repair. If you believe your E67 error code is because of the southbridge, your best bet might be looking at finding a replacement motherboard like these.
