80GB Original Xbox Compatible HDDs | Tinker Mods

Introduction

This page is dedicated to the 80GB HDDs you can find that are compatible with the original Xbox console. This is part of the Original Xbox hard drive upgrade buying guide. This should not be considered a complete or definitive list of 80GB hard drives for the console and more of a list of drives you can still find, and at reasonable prices in the modern age. There is a much more complete list of drives out there but this list focuses on drives that are easier to find in 2025 and beyond. Though with the old IDE 80GB HDDs it will be harder to find one in this size. Most people who do sell these try and sell them at high prices if there aren't many more of them (On ebay for example) However I have complied a list where you should be able to look through the drives listed below and find a fair price on one of them. These are all higher mass production drives that are more common to come across, and thus usually can be found cheapest. These are also all hard drives I have used myself and can confirm they are lockable, and fully compatible with the original Xbox console.

Lastly, for 80GB drives I also did not include any SATA drives as there is really no point in getting an 80GB sata hard drive and then having to purchase a converter, so these are all IDE HDDs. HOWEVER, sometimes you can find both IDE and SATA versions of the same exact drive with nearly identical model numbers. So while shopping, double check you're looking at an IDE drive so you don't end up having to buy an IDE to SATA converter.
