This PS1 optical drive replacement is the original model with short ribbon cable. These were used exclusively in the SCPH-1001 models and will not fit any other. If you are in need of a different model optical drive you can check out the other drives here! Note that you are not buying a cheap clone part. This is an original, authentic, OEM optical drive replacement pulled out of an actual PS1 console. This will arrive in great working condition. In most cases each of these optical drive replacements have been rebuilt in some way. This can sometimes be the spindle or even the worm motor system. Do not get this PS1 optical drive mixed up with the PSOne(Slim) console as these drives look very similar but do not run at the same specs. This is for the original "fat" version of the console.

There are situations where your motherboard can actually be the cause of an optical drive not reading discs. This would mean getting a replacement like this would not solve your issue, so please keep in mind that this could be the cause of your problems as well.
