Here we have the one and only custom PS1 case mod kit from Tinker Mods! This is an all in one DIY mod kit that will fit any version of the console! Make sure to read this entire page as I dive deep into how this works, and what everything looks like!

What are you getting?

This will include the custom PS1 case top shell and lid, with a plug and play internal LED kit. So you will need your own bottom shell piece. This helps me preserve and use more of these cases. This is a hand made item and not made from cheap clone parts. The case and LED power cable are all original OEM parts I have modified. This is for the case ONLY, and does not include the console or bottom case half! You can see an example below of how it will look when you receive it

What's been done? Give me the Stats!

For starters, the top lid of this custom PS1 case has a large circular cut out, notably this is slightly larger than the size of the disc. This will give you a perfect view of the optical drive area, showing off the disc and seeing it work it's magic while it runs. This window mod also has plexiglass pre-installed. Next, I also modified the case that sits underneath the disc, As you can see in the pics below, a large section has been completely removed, this allows you to install the LED kit inside the larger chamber of the shell, instead of the the lid itself. (Which is an absolute nightmare to make that work) This makes installing the LED kit insanely easy (More on that later). The light shines in from the main case area and up from under the disc. This also gives you extra LED effect inside the console. You can see below this allows an LED lighting effect from the sides of the console, as well as an underglow effect underneath it. So not only is installing the LED kit crazy simple, it also gives you really unique lighting effect that you wouldn't get if you crammed the LEDs in the lid! The cut to the case has also been done strategically to still keep two the optical drive supports in fact. This means the cut out does not effect the stability of the optical drive even if the console is being transported.

How does the installation work?

This is a completely plug and play DIY kit, so you will need to install the included LED kit inside the custom PS1 case. See the picture below to see how you should install it. This will require adhesive or glue. The Led lights do have an adhesive strip on them, but those are pretty poor quality from the factory. A hot glue gun will be easiest to work with. The custom PS1 case itself is simple, once the LEDs are attached the case just sits down on the bottom console assembly like a stock case would. This does eliminate one case screw. (The one near the Memory card/controller port) This will not effect how the console functions. The LED kit is using an original OEM PSU/motherboard power cable. This is why you have to choose what version console you have, so I can use the correct cable length. Just remove that cable from your PS1 power supply and motherboard, and replace it with the one included in this kit. This DOES NOT effect how the console functions. Your disc drive and motherboard will work just as they always have, this is also true if you are using other mod kits on your build. This would work fine for any Xstation or HDMI mod kits you plan to use!
